This is probably the reason I don’t get acting jobs
So I have been writing in to local production companies recently submitting headshots and resumes by email. Normally I leave the body of the email blank just submitting the above things. This time though as I stared at the body I felt compelled to change that. So to quote Mike Birbiglia “What I should have said, was nothing”
What I said instead was this.
Hi. Not sure what to say here if anything at all. It seemed weird to put nothing though. So I said something, but to be fair saying how I wanted to put something in here doesn’t really mean anything which makes it nothing at all. It’s probably just the general actor complex you start to get where you put out your headshot and resume and feel like is that all there is to me? Acting should be so much more than “oh yeah I did a bunch of shows here look at them”. As a person I want to be more than a small collection of my collective acts. So i guess that’s the reason I wrote all of this. Just trying not to be another blank smiling face, now I’m probably a more neurotic face. Not sure if that’s the face I want but it’s a face I’m showing so I’ll settle for it. If you read this, Thank You. I probably wouldn’t have so good on you for going that extra step.

Mostly I’m posting this because I know Sarah will be entertained by it / use it to explain this kid to her followers who see her talk about this guy and have never met him. This kid is so self-confident he can gleefully walk onto a field - full of violent, testosterone-fueled, armed fighters - wearing a see-through gold shirt, a cape, and stuffed animals sewn to his pants, and kill people.
